Questions these episodes answer
Why did Mischa Sigtermans start a booking agency as a teenager?
Sigtermans says after he started DJing as a young teenager, he and his DJ friends struggled to manage their own bookings well, so he started a booking agency to help fellow DJs get booked and to help push himself onto better lineups at the same time.
How did Mischa Sigtermans's first angel investor structure his investment in Stagent?
Sigtermans says his first angel, his former boss from the hosting company PC Extreme, had a rule of investing 10k with no questions asked if he liked what he saw, then another 10k under the same terms if things kept going well, only asking harder questions once the total passed 20K.
When did Mischa Sigtermans actually turn Stagent from an idea into a company?
Sigtermans says the Stagent idea and first MVP came together around 2018, but he really started the company in 2019, and only sold his previous business in 2021 to commit to Stagent full time.
How does Mischa Sigtermans try to stay focused as a founder?
Sigtermans built himself a personal rule, inspired by something he read about Steve Jobs, that he can only have five active projects at once, whether that is the company, a relationship or friendships, and has to drop one before taking on a sixth.
What is Mischa Sigtermans's long-term goal for Stagent?
Sigtermans says his long-term, big hairy goal is for Stagent to become the one platform for all booking agencies and artists, and eventually for other verticals such as speakers too, so that anyone who performs, and everyone around them, ends up managing bookings on Stagent.
